The good thing about building the Dryads first is that there aren’t any illegal builds for them modelwise. If you’re unsure about anything the folk in your local GW should be happy to help, whether it’s just a chat or a painting lesson. A good site for advice is asrai.org too

I think making videos for beginners is a great idea because I was the same when I first started Warhammer. I think for a first time painter your models are looking really good, much better then my first models they ended up looking like walking blobs of paint ;) hope to see more of your videos

@LordEsel88 I don’t play fantasy, only 40k but I kinda had a ‘WTF’ moment reading this. Is that true? I would have thought that that’d be the most common scheme.

the camera quality isn’t the greatest from what i see the dryads look pretty good for a first time painter. From the one up close pic of those 2 dryads it seems you have a very firm grasp for the drybrush technique already.

I’d say you should pick up the Wood Elf Book next and the rulebook if you can drop that much at once,it helps to start planning out your army with a points list before you start making your purchases, having the rulebook helps figure out how special rules work for some units

Haha, you are funny. Really good start, you actually made a really nice movement tray for them, for skirmishers that is pretty annoying to make… Painting is a little hard to judge, but looks heaps better then my first models. Women always learn to paint so quick…

The unit is fine, a unit of Dryads can be any size between 8 and 20 models, so yours is fine. You may find after a few battles that you would prefer smaller units of them (8 per unit) or maybe larger units. Personal preference…

@LordEsel88 I’ll bear that in mind and research the wood elves in detail. Thanks very much :)

It is hard to see, but if those Dryads are your first models you’ve painted then that’s very good. About the choice of making them autumn coloured, I think it’s a nice change from the spring or summer colours you often see. I know someone that also did autumn colours on his Wood Elves.

Gameplay-wise they are a finesse army that force you to be clever to win, unlike for example Warriors of Chaos that are easier to win with. I recommend buying the Wood Elves armybook.

    Hoping to see more.

@TheJoeyberry I’m glad to hear that you have found a hobby that pleases you.

@TomValedro It’s something you can build up to, depending on the size of your army and on points I think. No more than an online game subscription would set you back overall. It’s worth a try, I’m enjoying it so far :)

Isn’t warhammer extremely expensive? All history students play it though, for some reason.

Sorry for the blurry photos of the models at the end everyone; a good digital camera is on my “to buy list” before taking new photos! (I’m ashamed to admit these were from my phone!)
